About Me

I am an American, born and raised in Wyoming, and have always loved traveling. Learning French in school led me to Tours, France where I spent a school year as nanny to two amazing boys. I also completed my third year of university, known as Licence, at Université François-Rabelais. Upon receiving my BA in French with a minor in English from the University of Wyoming, I traveled to Monterey, California where I received my MA in Translation Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

My true passion for translation and interpretation was confirmed after I spent a summer in Benin, West Africa volunteering as a translation assistant for an international Christian organization. Through me, a hospital serving hundreds was able to have instructions for how to maintain important machinery. Missionaries were able to share the good news. Two organizations were able to come together under a working agreement for how to best use their resources to serve the community. I interpreted for a doctor regarding starting an AIDS program and to assist an elderly man with health problems. Facilitating these conversations made me realize the importance of learning and understanding other cultures and languages.

Not all documents or situations are life and death, or let's be honest, all that exciting, but I take the utmost pride and enjoyment in making every project my number one priority. I invest the time to fully grasp the original language, prepare for interpretation assignments in advance and edit my own work thoroughly so it's ready for publication. The exciting part about T&I is that every day is an opportunity to learn something new. Translators and interpreters are jacks of all trades, investing the energy to ensure they understand the subjects they treat. When I get an opportunity to use my education and experience to make the world a better place, I'm all that more grateful to be part of a profession that daily bridges the language gap and, in so doing, even larger gaps that exist in our world.
